MP's Constituency Caseworker/Campaigns Assistant - F/T

The MP for Torridge and West Devon, Mr Geoffrey Cox, QC MP is looking for a Caseworker/Campaigns Assistant to work from the Bideford constituancy office. The roles is to assist the MP's work in the local community. The salary offered is £18-£22,000.

Key Responsibilities:

  Dealing with daily queries from members of the public by phone or in person, providing advice and support
  and taking the appopriate initial action to resolve, document or escalate their concerns or enquiries

  Maintain an up to date knowledge of relevant guidelines/legislation as appropriate in dealing with casework

  Liaising with local and national bodies, government agencies, and other organisations

  Working and communicating effectively with community and voluntary groups on behalf of the MP on
  constituency campaigns and issues

  Devising strategies and taking the initiative in progressing issues or campaigns for the MP including
  organising meetings, events and media liaison

  Representing the MP at meetings about constituency issues and campaigns

  Drafting articles and press releases on local issues for the local press and media

  Undertake general administrative/secretarial tasks, eg managing surgery diary, record keeping, etc

You will need:

  Professionalism, diplomacy and political awareness
 
  Excellent organisational, verbal and written communication skills

  Ability to prioritise work under pressure and contribute to strategic direction

  Good IT skills

The post may require occasional evening working
