Dear all,
Exciting times in Politics with the Lib Dems (as ever) falling apart and in need of a new leader and a nice healthy lead for us in the opinion polls after Brown's lack of bottle for an election.
However, EUCF does have an election, and at midnight tonight, nominations will be opening for all candidates who wish to stand for a position. To do so, go to our snazzy elections website at www.exetercf.co.uk/elections. All positions are open, and you can view the descriptions of each position on that website. Firstly, candidates who want to stand require both a proposer and seconder (who can be anyone who is a member of the society) and to write a brief description of their details and why they should be elected.
Election night itself will be on the 8th November at 8PM in the Long Lounge - all candidates must give a speech detailing why they should take the position of no longer than 5 mins in length, followed by a brief Q and A. All members will then be eligible to vote, using an STV (Single Transferable Vote) system (You list the candidates in order of preference, if the one you like best gets knocked out in first tabulation your vote goes to your second choice, etc.)
And to get to know any candidates, we will also be organizing a social in between now and election night - details will be forthcoming in the next couple of days....
Finally it is my great delight to say we will shortly be starting ticket sales for our Winter Ball - Ed Vaizey is our guest speaker, and judging by the previous balls we've held, it should be a brilliant night. Again, details to follow.
Regards,
Dan Ericsson,
Acting Chairman.
